As Democrats, we place the well-being of the people as our highest priority. We believe in the values of community, empathy, equality, tolerance, opportunity, and the common good of the interdependent world we share. These values provide the basis for our ideals and are supported by our state and federal Constitutions.

The people have a right to expect their elected representatives to govern in a manner that will protect and promote their civil liberties, human rights, and quality of life.

ENVIROMENT
We believe in protecting our island environment, including its scenic beauty, water, air, parks, flora, fauna and open spaces. We support Washington State’s Growth Management Act.
DEFENSE
We believe in a strong and cost effective national defense, and that members of our armed forces and their families are to be honored and supported for their service to this nation.
PUBLIC TRANSIT
We believe in affordable and effective public multi-modal transportation systems are essential to the residents and businesses in Island County.
PUBLIC SAFETY
We believe funding is essential for public safety services, including police, the courts, fire, and emergency medical response.
COMMUNITY
We believe in and support Island County as a welcoming and inclusive community that fosters understanding, tolerance and respect for our fellow community members regardless of their immigration status.
HEALTH CARE
We believe in a strong network of social and health services that treats elders with dignity, and allows all citizens to obtain timely, affordable and quality healthcare.
VOTING
We believe our election systems require non-gerrymandered districts, and transparency concerning the amount and source of campaign contributions and expenditures.
LOCAL ECONOMY
We believe in locally-compatible economic development that creates local jobs, a diverse community, and a more sustainable economy with an equitable and reliable tax base.
