Kim Schrier -  Washington State Congressional District 8

Kim Schrier 400x400

I am honored to represent families throughout Washington’s 8th Congressional District. These are the families I had the pleasure of serving for the past 20 years as a pediatrician in Issaquah, and I know how to listen. I look at the issues facing our district as a scientist, doctor, and parent, with an eye towards making sure that the patients I cared for have access to great, affordable healthcare, clean air and water, an excellent public education, and a shot at the American Dream. I am not a slick career politician. I am a pediatrician, a wife, and a mom who is excited to bring some basic common sense to Congress.

Melissa Beaton - Skagit County Clerk

Melissa Beaton 400x400

I am a lifelong Skagit County resident raised in Burlington and have made my home in Mount Vernon. At the age of 17, I began working as an errand person for Bannister, Bruhn & Clark, a local law firm. My career in public service began in 1998 as a receptionist for Skagit County Superior Court then working my way up to Superior Court Manager before leaving to become County Clerk. I currently have the honor of serving as your Skagit County Clerk and am running for re-election to continue my service.

Outside of work, I am active in my community. I am a proud Skagit Rotarian serving as the Club’s first female president in 2018. I was a member of the Skagit Valley YMCA Board of Directors for 8 years and part of the leadership that brought our new facility to the community.

For a number of years while my children were in school I held the position of Board Secretary for Immaculate Conception Regional School Commission. I also served on the Citizens Advisory and Facilities Planning Committees for the Mount Vernon School District. I have participated on a number of hiring board panels for the Civil Service Commission.

I also have the privilege of serving on Mount Vernon City Council. Since joining Council, I have graduated from Mount Vernon Police Department’s Citizens Academy, attended Fire Ops 101, served as mayor pro tem, the voting rights committee, chaired our Public Safety committee and am currently chair of Development Services committee.

I am married, have three daughters, a son, two grandsons and can’t forget about our family dog, Larry David. I enjoy being outdoors hiking, working in our yard and working out at the YMCA.

Thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about me. I would be honored and humbled to receive your vote.
